Missing The Cut Life

Since Chief did the big chop on my hair, I had been feeling liberated.  For the first few weeks, there was that sense of freedom we all feel after a haircut.  It was the beginning of a new chapter in my natural hair journey.  A few weeks went by and then I came down from the clouds.  I started missing the cut life.

Exactly 17 weeks ago, I decided I was going to cut my hair since it had thinned so much as a side effect of the IUD (which has since been removed).  I will share on that on a later date but after getting the Mirena removed, it took a few weeks for the shedding to stop.   Then, my hair noticeably went into a resting phase where it wasn’t growing at all and about 6 weeks ago until now, I’ve been noticing it growing out once again.

That’s when I started noticing my little o-shaped curls were residing when my fade once was.  This part of my natural hair journey has been particularly exciting because I’ve never seen my hair at this length before.  Sure, I’ve had shaved sides and I’ve had short hair and long hair but never at this length.  My new found little curlies are so cute, lo maintenance and easy to care for–I like them so much that I’d even dare to keep the sides at this length.  BUT…I’m really missing my shaved sides and it’s getting warmer out which makes me want to fade it out even more.

I’m not sure what I’ll do next but in whatever I decide, I wanted to at least make sure I documented my cute little curls at the stage they’re in right now.
